Your support will mean that a primary aged child is able to go to school, a school where they will learn, thrive and which will give them the hope of a brighter future. The chance to actually get a good education, to pass their exams and therefore the opportunity to go on to secondary school and even university.
This is a chance so few children have in Kenya.
Dorcas’ Story
Dorcas started at Dreamland Education Centre nearly 8 years ago, she had a huge spinal tumour and if it was not the medical intervention and sponsorship given at Dreamland Mission Hospital she may well not alive today. Dorcas could not walk, run and control her bladder when we first met, she was in extreme pain and ate 1 meal a day because her family were so poor. Thanks to your sponsorship she has now finished primary school (which in Kenya goes up to the equivalent of year 9 in secondary school). She passed her leaving exams with an excellent score, she is the first girl from a village like hers to make such a grade! She can also speak fluent English, walk and run. Her life has been transformed!
Dorcas is thrilled to have been offered a place in secondary school and thanks to a generous supporter she will be sponsored through her studies. Her dream is to be a nurse, clinical officer or maybe a science teacher.
Sponsored children will receive everything they need to attend school. A uniform, shoes, books, stationary, a desk, food, clean water and the opportunity to board in the brand new school dormitory. They are also able to attend a holiday club during school holidays where they receive meals for the day and education in life skills.
Children in need of school sponsorship are identified by local social workers and IcFEM staff.
